The Grand Ducal Police have reported that they arrested one suspect after an attempted ATM explosion in Tétange.
Earlier on Monday 24 February 2025, the police had stated that a manhunt was underway in relation to the incident. They have since released further details.
Shortly before 03:00 on Monday, the police received reports of several people dressed in dark clothing who were behaving suspiciously at an ATM on Rue Principale in Tétange. Police patrols immediately went to the scene but three suspects fled on foot. While fleeing, one suspect was injured when he was hit by an approaching car. The officers apprehended the suspect and took him to hospital for treatment.
The police launched a large-scale manhunt for the two fugitive suspects, but this has so far been unsuccessful.
A special police unit neutralised a suspicious package found at the ATM on-site.
On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the caught suspect was arrested and will be brought before the investigating judge at some point on Monday.
In addition, the police confiscated a vehicle used in the crime, and which had been stolen in Belgium a few days earlier. An investigation has been launched.
