The weather warning currently in place for flooding in Luxembourg has been extended.

On Wednesday 8 January 2025, the authorities issued an orange weather warning in relation to local flooding along the Alzette and Sûre rivers. The nationwide flood alert (accompanied by a separate yellow warning for snow) was initially in place until 07:00 on Friday 10 January 2025.

The orange flood alert now also applies to the Moselle and is in place from midnight until 13:00 on Friday for northern Luxembourg and all day on Friday (00:00-23:59) for southern Luxembourg.

During these times, minor flooding may cause local damage. MeteoLux urged "particular vigilance in the case of seasonal and/or exposed activities".

As the situation evolves, updates will be published on www.inondations.lu, as well as on www.meteolux.lu.
