On Friday 8 November 2024, POST Luxembourg announced the opening of the Kleeschen (St Nicholas) and Santa Claus Secretariat for those all-important festive letters.
POST Luxembourg has been a partner of Saint Nicholas and Santa Claus since its foundation in 1842 and is opening the Kleeschen and Santa Claus Secretariat as the end-of-year celebrations approach.
The postal address to send letters to Kleeschen or Santa Claus is: Kleeschen / Santa Claus, 1 Spillstrooss, L-3290 Am Himmelsland.
POST Luxembourg will forward the letters to St Nicholas or to Santa Claus but, before doing so, will send a reply with a small, playful surprise to each sender. It is therefore essential to indicate the sender's address correctly to receive a reply.
On Tuesday 12 November, POST Luxembourg announced Jules Apel as the winner of the competition organised to choose the official "Kleeschen 2024" stamp that will be used by the Kleeschen Secretariat on the reply letters. All proceeds from the sale of the stamp will be donated to the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte.
In 2023, more than 3,500 letters were processed by the Kleeschen Secretariat at POST Luxembourg, where employees try to ensure that even letters with an incorrect recipient address reach their destination.
Letters addressed to the Kleeschen or Santa Claus can be dropped off, postage-free, in all POST yellow letter boxes throughout the country. In addition, POST has installed dedicated "Kleeschen" letter boxes in nine POST Spaces, where a printed greeting letter template is also available.
