Luxembourg’s Statistics Portal has published the country’s demographic figures for 2024, including details of people getting married and divorcing.
Marital Status
The share of single people has increased since 2001, while that of married people has decreased. The share of divorced/separated people has more than doubled while that of widowed people has halved.
More and more people are living in civil partnerships (PACS), which may partly explain the decrease in the percentage of married people.
Marriages and Divorces
2,539 marriages were celebrated in 2023 whereas 1,359 divorces were finalised.
