Luxembourg's Ministry of State, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the High Commission for National Protection (HCPN) have confirmed that an unannounced zonal warning test took place on Wednesday 26 June 2024.
This unannounced zonal alert test SMS was sent out on Wednesday in the municipalities of Weiler-la-Tour, Roeser, Bettembourg, Frisange, Dudelange, Kayl and Rumelange.
The authorities recalled that such tests are not communicated in advance, thus allowing mobile network operators to be put in a "real-life" situation facing an event triggering the imminent and spontaneous alert of the population.
Only people whose mobile phones were connected to a mobile phone base station in the above-mentioned areas at the time the alert was issued received the following SMS: "LU-Alert / Alerte test / No action required / Aucune action requise / Keine Handlung erforderlich".
These zonal tests form part of national warning system tests.
