On Sunday 23 June 2024, Luxembourg celebrated the official birthday of reigning monarch, Grand Duke Henri, with plentiful festivities throughout the sunny day.

The day started at Philharmonie in Luxembourg-Kirchberg where the Grand Duke and deputies, Prime Minister Luc Frieden and President of the Chamber of Deputies Claude Wiseler, addressed the nation and presented awards to deserving Luxembourg nationals. The Philharmonie Orchestra ended the official ceremony with a musical piece by Luxembourgish artist David Laborier. Following the concert was the traditional 21-gun salute fired in the Grand Duke's honour.

At midday, the ceremonial drill and military parade on the Avenue de la Liberté attracted huge crowds waving Luxembourgish flags and taking pictures of the processions. Representatives of the army, police, customs, Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps, and many others participated in the parade. Music bands of the Grand Duke Adolphe Union were also seen marching along the avenue with drums and other instruments. Military planes flew over the crowds as military vehicles drove on the street and attracted spectators. The festivities were accompanied by good weather all throughout the day.

The traditional Te Deum concluded the official festivities of the National Day Notre-Dame de Luxembourg Cathedral with attendance from members of the Grand Ducal family.

Free concerts at City Sounds continued into the night, with main headliners Toto and Morcheeba putting on shows in Luxembourg City.
