Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Economy has announced that the "Guide for One Day" initiative is taking place this year from 22 June to 8 September.

Launched in 2017, and now in its eighth edition, the initiative has had around 30 guide registrations so far to offer newcomers and all interested persons nearly 75 personalised visits and tours to facilitate the integration of new and current residents into daily life in Luxembourg.

The "guides" play the double card of welcome and passion by showing - voluntarily and in their free time - to the participants, in an informal and friendly manner, the many facets of the country that are close to their hearts. These can be excursions to unusual places or less explored landscapes, leisure activities or visits to curiosities and cultural attractions, thus offering everyone a tailor-made experience.

Anyone can propose a visit or a guided tour if they are driven by the enthusiasm of showing their fellow citizens Luxembourg from a different angle. The website guideforoneday.lu allows interested parties to find out more about the project and to submit their proposal for a guided tour or register free of charge as a participant in a tour offered by another.

The "Guide for One Day" initiative is also part of the "Lëtzebuerg, dat ass Vakanz!" promotional campaign, which this year is promoting the many facets of cultural tourism such as the discovery of the country's industrial heritage. Therefore, the Minister Delegate for Tourism and Minister of Culture, Eric Thill, is offering a guided tour of the former "Schoofsbësch" stone quarry in Bettendorf on Saturday 7 September 2024, which was first exploited around 1870 and of which various remains from this period are still visible.
