Luxembourg's Ministry of Internal Affairs has advised the public to be vigilant in light of fraudulent LU-Alert text messages.
The ministry explained that, on the evening of Friday 26 January 2024, the LU-Alert national alert system was the victim of identity theft (SMS phishing - or smishing).
The authorities immediately put in place the necessary measures, in close collaboration with mobile telephone network operators.
The ministry also assured that the LU-Alert system was not compromised and remained operational at all times.
