The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has reported that more than 2,000 people visited Luxembourg City during the Easter weekend, which marked the launch of the 2023 tourist season in the capital.

Between Good Friday and Easter Monday, the LCTO registered 2,033 visitors at its tourist reception office in Place Guillaume II in Luxembourg-Ville. This represents an increase of 30% compared to 2022.

Visitors from Germany were the most numerous with a total of 694 people, followed by 341 visitors coming from France, 168 from the Netherlands and 110 from Belgium. 135 Luxembourg residents also visited the LCTO over the long weekend. Moreover, the LCTO recorded visitors from more distant countries, including 93 visitors from North America as well as 96 visitors from Asia.

During these four days, the LCTO organised eleven guided tours allowing 210 people to discover the capital in the company of an approved guide.

The LCTO also reintroduced its "Easter Safari" (Safari de Pâques) guided tour for children. During the first week of the Easter holidays, 180 participants went in search of animals in the urban jungle, including the "Péckvillchen" clay bird whistles which are synonymous with the "Emaischen" Easter Monday markets.

After maintenance work and annual periodic checks, the Pétrusse Casemates reopened their doors to the public on Friday 7 April 2023. Between Good Friday and Easter Monday, there was a visitor occupancy rate of 100%.

Moreover, the LCTO organised a digital egg hunt on its social networks for the Easter weekend, attracting a total of 95 participants.

From Good Friday to Easter Monday, the LCTO website recorded a total of 44,804 pages viewed by 15,546 visitors.
