On Saturday 20 August 2022, a man was arrested in the south of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in connection with an assault on a woman in her home.
The Grand Ducal Police were alerted by a call that was reported shortly after 23:20, in which the caller reported having heard loud screams coming from a neighbouring house.
Arriving at the address, a man with visible minor injuries opened the door; behind him was a woman who had bloodstains on her face.
It turned out that they are ex-partners who live separately, but had arranged to meet in the evening. A verbal altercation ensued, followed by the use of force.
The police officers explained the procedure for filing a lawsuit and in the course of the investigation it turned out that the woman had been beaten, sexually harassed and threatened with death.
The public prosecutor's office was informed accordingly and ordered the arrest of the man. The victim was transported to hospital.
