As of the evening of Friday 11 March 2022, Luxembourg has lifted the majority of its COVID-19 health restrictions.

On Friday, Luxembourg's 60 members of parliament (MPs) unanimously adopted the 22nd amendment to the COVID law (bill 7971). This bill provides for a flexible health regime, i.e. most health restrictions were lifted as soon as the text scheduled for Friday evening was published. These updated changes will remain in effect until 30 June 2022.

Measures concerned include social distancing and the compulsory wearing of a mask in most settings (except in public transport, hospitals and prisons) as well as the legal provisions linked to the CovidCheck regime, namely in the workplace, in the hospitality and commerce sectors, and restrictions on gatherings and sporting or cultural events. Event organisers remain free to apply a stricter protection regime by following the recommendations of the Health Directorate.

Bill 7971 maintains the following protective measures:

- Masks must continue to be worn in public transport, in hospitals and in care homes and the penalties for non-compliance with this measure remain in place;

- The CovidCheck 3G regime continues to apply to the hospital and care sector for staff, service providers and visitors;

- A specific regime remains in place for prisons and detention centres;

- Vaccination, recovery and test certificates remain valid;

- Existing rules concerning isolation for people who test positive for COVID-19 remain in place, i.e. the isolation period ends following two negative rapid antigen test results within 24 hours of each other.
