On Saturday 8 January 2022, a COVID-19 protest in Luxembourg-ville attracted around 250 demonstrators and passed off peacefully, according to the Grand Ducal Police.
The police were in attendance in case of any crowd disturbances as had happened on a couple of occasions in December; the police monitored the situation but did not need to intervene.
A group of around 80 people first started to congregate at Luxembourg-Gare at around 14:00; a half-hour later, they started to walk towards the Glacis, as did several other groups.
The police guided the demonstrators back to the train station where they dispersed at around 17:30; towards the end of the demonstration, four people were arrested by the police for minor offences
