On Friday 24 December 2021, a largely peaceful protest took place in Luxembourg-ville.

A total of around 200 people gathered at the Place Guillaume II at around 14:00 to protest against the recently-announced COVID-19 government restrictions - which had been passed by parliament earlier in the day - and the emphasis on being vaccinated.

A significant police presence was on hand, many in full riot gear, in case the protests got out-of-hand, as happened on Saturday almost two weeks ago.

The protest passed off peacefully and there were no incidents or friction with the police; however, the police did carry out checks on the identities of the protesters.

The protest concluded at 16:00, without the need for any street closures. The Christmas Market was closed for the day.
