The Grand Ducal Police has reported that, during the past week, they carried out around 290 checks across the Grand Duchy to ensure compliance with the legal provisions against the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to the rules relating to the curfew (around 140 checks) and large groups assembling, these checks also focused on controls within shopping centres and other commercial activities, as well as their sanitary concepts. Around 150 people were fined during this period; 85% of the fines were in relation to people breaking curfew (between 23:00 and 06:00).

At around 22:30 on 17 April 2021, the police received reports of a private gathering of several people in Luxembourg-Belair. Police officers confirmed on site that too many people were present. Seven people received fines.

Furthermore, in 34 cases, police officers had to create a protocol or report for non-compliance with the sanitary regulations to the responsible authorities, including in the context of gatherings of people in the private and public areas, or where restaurants or cafes had not complied with the regulations.
