The Grand Ducal Police has reported that, during the past week, they carried out around 300 checks across the Grand Duchy as part of compliance with the legal provisions against the spread of COVID-19; in addition to the rules relating to the curfew (around 200 checks) and large groups assembling, these controls also focused on controls within shopping centres and other commercial activities, as well as their sanitary concepts.

During the period mentioned, around 200 people were fined. For example, on 22 March 2021 at around 17:45 in Esch-sur-Alzette, a private meeting of people was reported to the police at which too many people were present. In this case, a total of 6 people were warned and were fined on the spot.

In addition, large gatherings were reported to the police in the evening of 26 and 27 March 2021 in the Dräi Eechelen municipal park. When the police arrived at the scene, those who had been partying fled from the scene.

Around 70% of the fee-based warnings issued during the period mentioned are due to the violation of the curfew between 23:00 and 06:00.

Furthermore, in 33 cases police officers had to create a report to the responsible authorities for non-compliance with sanitary regulations, among other things in the context of gatherings of people in the private sector, in the case of violations which were committed by minors, or in restaurants or cafes that had not complied with the regulations.

On 26 March 2021 at around 12:45, guests were reported to the police in a restaurant in Kockelscheuer. 3 guests could be found at the scene and were fined.
