The Grand Ducal Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in relation to one of several burglaries recently reported across Luxembourg.

Shortly after 01:00 on Friday, the police received reports of a break-in at a single-family home in Grand-Rue in Ettelbrück, in central Luxembourg. A manhunt ensued for the fleeing suspect. Police officers identified and arrested a suspect shortly thereafter; the individual in question was found in possession of stolen property and will be brought before the examining magistrate today.

At around 03:40, a burglar broke into a residential building on Rue des Etats-Unis in Luxembourg-Gare while the resident was present. The suspect appears to have switched on the lights during a search of the rooms, which woke up the resident. In the meantime, the intruder had already left the building with various valuables.

Yesterday evening, several unidentified individuals are believed to have forcibly entered a family home on Rue de la Deportation in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie. The perpetrators damaged the fence to gain access to the back of the house. All rooms were ransacked and various valuables were stolen or damaged.

On Rue des Romains in Strassen yesterday, an unknown perpetrator broke into an apartment by breaking down the front door. It is not yet known whether or not valuables had been stolen.

On Thursday morning, one or more intruders forcibly gained entry to a single-family home on Rue de l’Usine in Esch-sur-Alzette. After all the rooms had been searched for valuables, the perpetrator(s) managed to escape undetected.

In all cases, the police gathered evidence at the scene of the crime and launched investigations.
