On Monday 8 March 2021, the baker and pastry chef section of the food artisan association "Conféderation Liewensmëttelhandwierk" offered a pretzel to the College of Mayors and Aldermen of the City of Luxembourg.
Traditionally in Luxembourg, young men offer a pretzel to their loved one every year on "Bretzelsonndeg", which is being celebrated this year on Sunday 14 March 2021. If the young woman reciprocates her suitor's feelings, she gives him an Easter egg in return three weeks later on Easter Sunday.
With a few days left to go, food artisans used this pretzel offering as an opportunity to showcase this ancient tradition and the important profession of the baker and pastry chef.
