The Grand Ducal Police carried out around 35 checks daily across Luxembourg last week to ensure compliance with COVID-19 measures.

The police reported that officers issued a total of 150 fines for non-compliance; most of these fines were issued over the weekend against individuals who did not adhere to the curfew in place between 23:00 and 06:00.

Over 20 fines were issued against establishments or businesses for failure to comply with the regulations currently in force. Last Tuesday, for instance, the owner of a grocery shop in southern Luxembourg received a fine as a result of his / her employees' continued failure to wear masks.

Over the weekend, the police carried out around 50 daily checks across the country, where they recorded various violations, particularly in pubs in Pétange, Dudelange and Luxembourg City on Saturday evening.

More than 30 fines were issued during a large-scale checks in Luxembourg City (as pictured), which were carried out in the Clausen and Cents districts as well as at Gluck tunnel on Saturday and Sunday evening. The main focus was on ensuring that restaurants and cafés respected the sanitary regulations and that the curfew was respected.

In Wiltz, police broke up a private party with around 20 attendees on Friday evening.

The Grand Ducal Police will continue to carry out checks across the country. Anyone who is required to be out in public between 23:00 and 06:00 is advised to carry with them a document proving their reason for doing so, for instance an employer's certificate or a plane ticket in the case of travel.
