The Grand Ducal Police have reported that police officers carried out over 180 checks last week to ensure the compliance of individuals and businesses with the COVID-19 restrictions currently in force in Luxembourg.

During the week of 20-26 July 2020, police carried out more than 180 checks and issued 23 fines and tickers. 20 of these fines applied to restaurants and cafes in Dudelange, Differdange, Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg City, which did not comply with the hygiene rules or the midnight curfew. Two individuals received fines for failure to comply with the existing requirement to wear a mask, whilst a third individual was fined because they broke isolation rules.

Such police checks will continue for the foreseeable future. The police recalled that the spread of the virus can only be slowed down if everyone acts responsibly and in solidarity.
