The number of people applying for international protection (asylum) in Luxembourg in May 2020 stood at fifteen, up from ten the previous month but down significantly from 140 in April 2019.
A total of 53 decisions on asylum applications were taken during May 2020, with 19 applicants being granted international protection in Luxembourg.
A total of 401 applications for asylum have been received so far this year. The largest number of applicants seeking asylum in 2020 to date came from Syria (85), followed by Eritrea (60) and Venezuela (37).
