On 23 May 2019, the Luxembourg Institute of Regulation (ILR) presented its annual activity report of the mediation service for the year 2018.

The report, summarising the activities of the mediation service, revealed that the ILR received 129 mediation requests in 2018. This represents a slight increase of 8% compared to the 120 applications submitted in 2017. 44% ended in agreement and thus required no further action.

The requests fell into the following areas: electronic communications services; energy, grouping together electricity and natural gas; postal services. In the majority of cases (91%), requests for mediation concerned the field of electronic communications services, a general trend observed since the introduction of the mediation service.

As in the 2017 report, the ILR noted for the year 2018 a recurrence of the problems most frequently encountered, namely problems relating to invoicing, contracts or the termination of services.
