POST Luxembourg has opened new POST Points and POST Spaces that will take over from four post offices in Hosingen, Clervaux, the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) and Bertrange, which will soon close their doors.
Since 2015, POST Luxembourg has adapted its sales network in attempts to meet the expectations of its customers both in terms of opening hours and proximity and ease of access. The approach chosen by POST is based on the complementarity between four sales channels: "POST Spaces", "POST Points" (in shops), self-service (PackUp stations, ATMs, etc.) and the services offered by postmen and postwomen.
The opening of the first "POST Space" in Luxembourg-Gare in August 2017 has since been followed by three other POST Spaces in Marnach, Luxembourg-Centre and Dudelange. These points of sale offer all POST products with extended hours.
In parallel, POST Luxembourg has opened 33 new "POST Points" since the end of 2015, in partnership with other companies such as Cactus, Cactus Shoppi or other local businesses. The number of POST Points is now 49. These partnerships have proven successful (400,000 transactions in 2018), and despite the closure of post offices in 2016, the number of opening hours has increased by more than 50% between 2015 and 2019, bringing this to more than 6,000 hours per week spread over 112 points of sale, some of which open six or seven days a week. Other POST Points will open in 2019.
In addition to the very busy self-service areas in the POST areas, POST Luxembourg has almost tripled the number of PackUp 24/24 stations in the country from 32 to 91 stations between the end of 2015 and March 2019. Eighteen PackUp 24/24 stations have also been enlarged. The application www.mypost.lu (40,000 users) also enables the management of the reception of parcels delivered in PackUp 24/24 stations but also to keep post during a holiday without visiting a post office.
More recently, POST announced that it will close four post offices, either because alternatives have been set up or exist nearby. These are the Hosingen and CHL post offices (both to close on 1 May 2019), the Clervaux post office (to close on 1 June 2019) and the Bertrange post office (date to be determined). This decision was taken after consultation with the municipalities concerned. For each of these post offices, several alternatives exist within a radius of 0 to 5 kilometres. Customers in the districts and regions concerned will be informed of the details of the closures and the alternatives they will have at their disposal. Employees affected by the closures will all be reassigned to other post offices.
