A total of 220 applications for international protection were received in Luxembourg last month.
March 2019 saw the submission of 220 applications for asylum to the Luxembourg Department of Immigration. This represents an increase compared to the number of applications received in both February 2019 (182) and March last year (132).
The majority of the asylum applications last month came from people leaving Eritrea (96), followed by Algeria (14) and Afghanistan (13). Applications came mainly from the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa with just one originating in America (Venezuela).
The total number of applications so far this year is 628.
