On Monday 4 March 2019, a fallen tree caused a serious traffic accident in Reuland, resulting in the death of one driver.
Shortly after 08:00 on Monday morning, strong winds caused a tree to break and fall on a tractor driving on the N14 towards Blumental. A log broke off from the impact and landed on the roof of an oncoming vehicle.
Both drivers were trapped in their cars and had to be rescued and taken to the hospital by the emergency services. Both sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident.
That same evening, one of the drivers, a 51-year-old from Echternach, passed away in hospital from his injuries.
