A total of 234 applications for international protection were received in Luxembourg last month.

November 2018 saw the submission of 234 applications for asylum to the Luxembourg Department of Immigration. This represents an increase compared to the number of applications received in October (178) and September (209) this year, as well as a significant increase from the 143 applications received in November 2017.

The majority of the asylum applications last month came from people leaving Eritrea (41), followed by Afghanistan (24) and Syria (19). Applications came mainly from the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa with five from Venezuela and one from Haiti.

The total number of applications for 2018 so far is 1,932.
