On Monday afternoon, a prisoner from Schrassic prison escaped his captors when he was at the Centre Hospitalier Luxembourg (CHL) in Strassen.
He had been brought to the hospital for a medical examination; the escape happened at around 15:00 when he was still in handcuffs.
The escapee is described as being in his mid-twenties, circa 1.8m tall, of slender build, short black hair and a Mediterranean appearance.
A search was immediately initiated, involving the police helicopter as well as the police squadron of dog handlers.
The police have appealed to members of the public not to pick up hitchikers in the vicinits of the CHL and to report any suspicious persons to tel: 113.
