A woman is in a life-threatening condition in hospital following a road accident yesterday near Esch-Belval.
The accident occurred early yesterday morning on the road from the Belval site to the Raemerich roundabout when the driver lost control of her vehicle for reasons unknown and crashed through the safety barrier into a cooling pool alongside the road. The driver was pulled to safety from the vehicle by members of the security forces and taken to hospital where her condition remains critical.The road is closed while investigations were carried out.
Police are particularly keen to speak to a man who it appears had jumped into the water to help the woman. He could not free the victim and subsequently left the scene. It is believed the man may have been a witness to the accident and police ask that he contact them at Esch-Alzette on 4997-5500.
