On 4 October 2016, Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Étienne Schneider, congratulated five young Luxembourgers who interned at the European Space Agency (ESA).
At the event, Minister Schneider presented his congratulations to the young trainees who had had the unique opportunity of doing an end-of-studies internship with ESA in Germany and the Netherlands. This special traineeship was made possible by an agreement between the Ministry of the Economy and ESA, which allows young graduates from the Grand Duchy to gain first-hand professional experience in different sectors of the space domain.
Thanks to this year’s “Luxembourgish Young Graduate Trainees” (LuxYGT) scheme, Virgil Hinque, Philippe Ludivig, Fabien Marguet, Felix Mentgen and Gaëtan Petit had the opportunity to gain valuable experience which qualifies them for various sectors in the domain, as well as in renowned research centres, or even in ESA itself. During their internships, these young Luxembourgers were guided by an experienced tutor who was also a staff member of ESA.
The Ministry of the Economy will continue to promote career opportunities in the space sector to young people in the region and so, will soon be calling for applicants to the first session in 2017.
