On Tuesday afternoon, a three-truck collision on the A1 motorway near the Kirchberg interchange with the A7, travelling from Senningerberg.

The accident happened shortly before 15:00, resulting in the driver of the 3rd truck being trapped in the wreckage of his cab. The emergency services from the fire brigade managed to free him using specialist cutting equipment, before he was brought to hospital by ambulance.

The motorway was blocked to traffic which was diverted to Waldhof. Later in the afternoon and early evening, rush-hour traffic was badly affected and long queues and significant delays were experienced by many motorists.

Due to motorists travelling in the opposite direction slowing down, and some people in cars even taking photographs, the Grand Ducal police have issued a warning that taking videos or photographs of an accident, while travelling, constitutes an infringement of the Highway Code, with fines of €145 and 2 points on a driver's licence.
