On Monday, the Luxembourg Reception and Integration Agency (OLAI) shared its position on the recent events at accommodation for asylum seekers at Bourscheid.

In response to an incident, OLAI has shared its sympathy and condemned recent acts of vandalism and also wishes to share its opinion on what it termed certain defamatory statements published in various media. OLAI’s personnel, as well as its managing partners and several voluntary initiatives, are working tirelessly to provide all asylum seekers with an equal and dignifying reception and living conditions, using all of the resources available.

Whilst it is true that asylum seekers often have to wait for prolonged periods before getting housing due to a shortage of available housing, OLAI emphasises that respect for others and community living rules apply to all residents equally.

Seekers of international protection are encouraged to approach their social worker if needed and there is always someone present to deal with urgent cases and worries.
