The Luxembourg-based New World Theatre Club (NTWC) has announced that it is holding auditions for Ken Ludwig's Lend Me a Tenor.
NWTC is currently casting a "laugh-out-loud comedy" by contemporary US playwright Ken Ludwig, to be directed by NWTC member Juliet Ostretsova.
Lend Me A Tenor is set in 1934 at the Cleveland Grand Opera where everyone awaits the arrival of a world-famous singer with bated breath. But the singer arrives late: chaos erupts on-stage, backstage and on many other fronts...
NWTC will be auditioning for the following parts:
- Saunders, a middle-aged authoritarian manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera;
- Max, a company gofer and assistant to Saunders;
- Maggie, the pretty and quirky girlfriend of Max and daughter of Saunders;
- Tito Merelli, a world-famous Italian tenor;
- Maria, Tito's lively Italian wife;
- Bellhop, an aspiring singer;
- Diana, a sexy soprano in her mid-30s;
- Julia, a chair of the Opera Guil.
NWTC said prospective candidates should be enthused by physical comedy and have an understanding of English-language humour. The performances will take place on four occasions during the second half of November 2025. The performance venue will be announced in September 2025.
Anyone who is interested in auditioning is asked to contact NWTC "very soon" via email (committee@nwtc.lu), stating their first and second choices of audition dates: Wednesday 25 June 2025 from 18:30 to 19:45 or by personal appointment with the director.
The director is also eager to hear from anyone able to share skills on set building, lights, sound and promotion.
There is no need to prepare anything ahead of the audition. The audition venue will be in Luxembourg City (exact location TBC). Rehearsal dates will be agreed with the candidates.
