On Monday 7 April 2025, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, participated in the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in its "Trade" configuration, which took place at the European Convention Center Luxembourg (ECCL) in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

As reported by Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Minister Bettel reaffirmed the importance of a joint and pragmatic response following the announcement of the imposition of tariffs by the United States. He also emphasised the need to be open to dialogue while diversifying trade ties with reliable partners and strengthening the competitiveness of the European economy.

Regarding trade relations with China, Luxembourg's Foreign Minister reiterated that a level playing field must be ensured and that dialogue is essential. In this regard, he welcomed the visit of European Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič to China, which took place on Thursday 27 to Friday 28 March 2025.
