On Thursday 6 March 2025, the European Indoor Athletics Championships 2025 will commence in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, with two athletes representing Luxembourg on the international stage.

Sprinter Patrizia van der Weken, who will compete in the 60m event, and middle-distance runner Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann, set to race in the 1500m, have successfully qualified for the European Championships. Van der Weken enters the competition with the best 60m time of her career - 7.07 seconds - achieved in January at the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting at her home venue, the Coque. This time is currently the fourth-fastest in the world this season.

Last year, Patrizia van der Weken competed in the 60m event at the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024 in Glasgow, United Kingdom, where she finished seventh with a time of 7.15 seconds. At the previous European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, she reached the semi-finals, clocking 7.27 seconds.

Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann recorded her best time of the season at a meet in Metz, France, running 4:13.56 in the 1500m. Two years ago, at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul, the now 28-year-old athlete reached the final, finishing eighth with a time of 4:10.03. In the previous round of the same competition, she set her personal best in the 1500m short track, which still stands at 4:08.73.
