Luxembourg MP Laurent Zeimet and other EU MPs stand in front of Ukraine's parliament in Kyiv; Credit: Chamber of Deputies

Luxembourg's parliament, the Chamber of Deputies, has reported that Luxembourg MP Laurent Zeimet (CSV) travelled to Kyiv, Ukraine this week for a meeting of parliamentarians.

On the occasion of the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Laurent Zeimet is representing the Luxembourg parliament in Kyiv on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 February 2025. The Vice-President of the parliament's Committee on Foreign and European Affairs is participating in the parliamentary initiative "United for Ukraine", bringing together about 20 EU and NATO member countries.

In Kyiv, the parliamentarians are meeting with key political representatives of Ukraine, various members of the government and MPs. On Monday, they met with Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament), and the chairs of the main parliamentary committees, among others.

Moreover, the President of Luxembourg's Chamber of Deputies, Claude Wiseler, co-signed a letter of support for Ukraine, together with the presidents of 20 parliaments including those of Germany and France, Canada, Portugal, Poland, the Baltic countries as well as the European Parliament.

In this letter, the signatories: condemn Russia's war crimes; reaffirm Ukraine's sovereignty; call for an increase in aid; underline the importance of sanctions; support the Ukrainian peace formula aiming at a complete, just and lasting peace; demand urgent investments in reconstruction; support Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration.
