Luxembourg's Ministry of Finance has confirmed that Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth, will represent Luxembourg for the first time as Minister of Finance at this year's meeting of German-speaking finance ministers in Lochau on Lake Constance in Austria on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 August 2024.
The host is the Federal Minister of Finance of Austria, Magnus Brunner. Other participants include Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Finance, Karin Keller-Sutter, German Federal Minister of Finance, Christian Linder, and the Prime Minister and Minister for Government Affairs and Finance of the Principality of Liechtenstein, Daniel Risch.
The conference's focus will be on strengthening Europe's competitiveness and financing the climate and energy transition, the ministry added.
The first meeting of German-speaking finance ministers took place in 2010. These annual meetings are organised alternately by the participating countries. Luxembourg last hosted in 2019.
