Luxembourg's Ministry of State and the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs have confirmed that Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and the Minister of the Economy and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Franz Fayot, will pay an official visit to Niger and Rwanda next week.
Following invitations from the President of the Republic of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, and the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, Prime Minister Bettel and Minister Fayot will be on an official visit to these two countries from Sunday 5 to Tuesday 7 June 2022.
In Niger, during high-level meetings, exchanges will mainly focus on the assessment of humanitarian and security policy with the Republic of Niger, as well as with the Sahel region. A visit to the achievements of development cooperation policy and humanitarian action is also on the agenda of this visit.
In Rwanda, the exchanges will mainly focus on bilateral relations between the Grand Duchy and Rwanda in the economic and digital fields.
Prime Minister Bettel and Minister Fayot will seize the opportunity of this trip to participate in the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in Kigali, which will take place under the theme of "Connecting the unconnected to achieve sustainable development". Also in this context, the ministers will be accompanied by representatives of Luxembourg companies operating in the digital, satellite, fintech and ICT fields, as well as in the health sector.
