Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, has thanked Belgium and the Netherlands for their efficient and generous assistance, during the night of 23 to 24 August 2021, to bring 8 Luxembourg residents into Kabul airport. This includes a family with three children, plus three men. These people will embark as soon as possible on European flights to reach Luxembourg. Minister Asselborn immediately thanked his Belgian counterpart, Minister Sophie Wilmès, this morning for Belgian assistance.
As previously announced, the Luxembourg army and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs are dispatching two representatives to Kabul airport via Islamabad, to assist Luxembourg's partners in the collective effort to evacuate European nationals and residents still stranded there.
