The City of Luxembourg, in collaboration with the SaF Zéisseng cycling club and the athlete Viki Gómez, is organising "Bike Days at Schluechthaus", to take place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October 2024 on the site of the former abattoir in Luxembourg-Hollerich.

Bike Days at Schluechthaus will offer young and old the opportunity to improve their riding and mastery of the bicycle.

On Saturday 26 October, multiple BMX world champion Viki Gómez will lead an interactive workshop to teach children aged six to twelve the basic techniques of BMX riding, as well as tricks based on their control and balance skills on the bicycle, all in a safe and exciting environment. BMX bicycles and protective helmets will be provided for the children.

On Sunday 27 October, the SaF Zéisseng cycling club will invite young and old to improve their cycling skills under the guidance of expert instructors. Participants will have the opportunity to try out different obstacle courses, supervised by club coaches. Visitors are requested to bring their own bicycle and protective helmet.

The event is part of a large programme of pre-work enhancement and revitalisation of the "Schluechthaus" (the Old Slaughterhouse/ Abattoir), with the aim of implementing ideas and wishes, collected as part of citizen participation, on the future use of the site. Many one-off events, including cultural, sporting and intergenerational activities, will be offered on the "Schluechthaus" site before work commences.

The event will take place on Saturday 26 October from 14:00 until 17:00 and on Sunday 27 October from 10:00 until 16:00 at 5 Rue de l'Abattoir, Luxembourg-Hollerich.

Free participation. Registration not required.
