Association Luxembourg Alzheimer (ALA) has announced it will organise the 23rd Memory Walk in Luxembourg on the occasion of 21 September, World Alzheimer's Day.

The Memory Walk is an international event of the Alzheimer's associations set to take place this year on Saturday 21 September 2024 at Place Clairefontaine in Luxembourg-Ville. The Walk allows visitors to show their support to those affected and their loved ones. It consists of a 30- to 40-minute walk with a guide through the city. The tours depart at 13:00, 14:30 and 15:30 from Place Clairefontaine. The tours are accessible to people with reduced mobility.

In this context, information stands regarding the services offered by the ala, on Alzheimer's disease and all other forms of dementia will be available at Place Clairefontaine from 11:00 to 17:00. This event aims to inform and raise awareness among the general public. It is an opportunity to make new acquaintances and partake in discussions. This year's theme is “Dementia: a thought for those who forget”. Conversations become fragmented, words escape and memories fade, ALA explained. Dementia is a condition that slowly and silently erodes memories, altering the perception and personality of those affected. ALA emphasised that one must cultivate a society where people with dementia are not marginalised, but included and valued. “Offering our support, our time and our love to those who forget is a duty, but also an act of profound humanity,” the association added.
