Local non-profit organisation LUkraine asbl has announced that it is organising a protest in Luxembourg City following recent deadly Russian air strikes in Ukraine.
A day of mourning is being observed in Ukraine on Tuesday 9 July 2024 following one of the deadliest waves of Russian air strikes to date. On Monday 8 July 2024, Russian missiles hit various buildings in Ukrainian cities, including Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv. At least 41 people were killed and about 170 were injured in the attacks.
In the wake of these devastating missile strikes on Ukrainian cities, LUkraine asbl has called on the public to join forces for a demonstration in Place de Clairefontaine in Luxembourg-Ville on Wednesday 10 July 2024, starting at 18:30.
"We gather to remind the world that terrorists continue to take innocent lives in Europe, and the civilised world has yet to find an effective response," explained the organisers. "We demand authorisation to strike the Russian airfields from which these deadly planes are launched, the provision of adequate weaponry to close to close the sky and to defend our children!"
Everyone is invited to join this protest. Further details are available on the Facebook event page.
LUkraine asbl has also issued an urgent call for support to rebuild Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital. For more information and to make a donation, click here.
