On the morning of Thursday 25 September 2025, CFL Cactus Shoppi officially opened their newest store, “Le Wagon”, at Luxembourg Station.
Described by CFL as “a new space for consumption, relaxation and transit”, the official inauguration of the store took place in the presence of Luxembourg’s Minister for Mobility and Public Works, Yuriko Backes, the Chairman of the CFL Board of Directors, Jeannot Waringo, the CEO of CFL, Marc Wengler, the Chairman and Managing Director of Cactus, Max Leesch and the Managing Director of Cactus, Laurent Schonckert.
The store, covering 158 m², offers three distinct areas to customers: a bar and barista area, selling refreshments and a variety of products from Cactus and its local partners, including hot dishes, pastries, confection and tapas; a “shop within a shop” serving freshly prepared sushi; and a POST Point offering newspapers, CFL merchandise, travel items and drinks and snacks to go. The store will be open Monday to Saturday from 06:00 until 20:00 and Sunday from 08:00 until 19:00.
At the inauguration Yuriko Backes said: “It is important to offer passengers additional services at a station that go beyond mobility itself, making their daily lives easier from departure to arrival. The station is often where their day begins and ends - particularly their working day - and must therefore become a place offering high-quality, personalised services for customers seeking comfort and efficiency. I am convinced that mobility hubs providing services contribute to enhancing the appeal of both the hub itself and its surrounding district.”
Speaking to Chronicle.lu about the launch of the new store, Laurent Schonckert said: “We have a collaboration with CFL Luxembourg since two and a half years and this is our third shop that we opened. It is a special little area because […] you can have lunch, you can have dinner, you can have breakfast, mostly of products coming from Cactus or from our partners.”
Speaking to Chronicle.lu about the roots of the collaboration between CFL and Cactus, Marc Wengler said: “We chose the Cactus group, we created a company called CFL Cactus Shoppi and this company was created at the end of 2022. In May 2023, we opened the first shop here in the Gare de Luxembourg and this shop has a lot of success.”
He added: “We have more than 25,000 clients per week who are passing in this first shop. The Wagon is complementary to the initial shop. You have other services for the clients, so this allows us also to make this place more attractive not only for the 80,000 people who transit here per day but also for the people who work or live here in the area.”
CFL Cactus Shoppi also announced that two additional stores will open in Bettembourg and Diekirch stations, as part of CFL’s “Station of Tomorrow” project.
