POST Luxembourg has announced the results of season 5 of the POST Esports Masters competition.
The finals took place at Forum Geesseknäppchen in Luxembourg-Merl on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July 2024. The event brought together esport enthusiasts around an intense competition featuring the best talents from Luxembourg and the Greater Region on the three games "League of Legends", "Valorant" and "Rocket League".
The stakes were high with a total of €20,000 up for grabs, during this public event which attracted more than 1,200 visitors throughout the weekend and 3,400 spectators online via the Twitch streaming platform.
A gesture of solidarity also marked these finals: visitors and online spectators made personal donations for a total amount of more than €700 for the benefit of Télévie, which helps fund cancer research. POST Luxembourg doubled this sum to €1,500.
The results of the finals of season 5 of the POST Esports Masters are as follows:
- League of Legends: the final saw the Luxembourg associations Snooze Esports and Royal Family compete. After a fierce clash, Royal Family won 3-0, in a confrontation that was closer than the score suggests, according to the organisers. Vace Esports (Luxembourg) took third place
- Rocket League: Snooze Esports and Royal Family faced each other once again in this final. This time, Snooze Esports won the title, while Sentient Esports (Luxembourg) took third place
- Valorant: the finals pitted Dutch teams Siko Esports and BLX x BCG against each other. Siko Esports confirmed its favourite status by winning with a score of 2-0. Royal Family (Luxembourg) ranked third
Luxembourg teams Vace Esports and Sentient Esports took third place in League of Legends and Rocket League respectively, highlighting the growing strength of local esports. However, Royal Family and Snooze Esports managed to consolidate their position as leaders in the Luxembourg esport landscape.
During the closing ceremony of the finals, POST Luxembourg revealed an imminent rebranding for the competition. From the next event, the POST Esports Masters will bear the new name "POP Esports Masters", in accordance with the new umbrella brand "POP", which brings together under a single visual identity all of POST Telecom's main Mobile, Internet and TV telecom products intended for individual customers.
