On Thursday 1 October 2026, Healthcare Week Luxembourg (HWL) announced the three winners of the HWL Awards 2026 which recognise innovative solutions to improve healthcare, the health system and the patient experience: Azyro, Kando and Brainphonics.
The winners were selected by HWL visitors from a shortlist of fifteen HWL exhibitors and were granted in three categories:
• the Luxembourg HealthTech Adoption Award for a Luxembourg-based company;
• the Europe HealthTech Adoption Award for a Europe-based company outside Luxembourg;
• the HWL Visitors’ Choice Award for an innovative solution receiving the highest cumulative score from HWL visitors.
The winners were announced during the HWL 2026 Gala Dinner on Wednesday 30 September.
HWL reported that a total of 195 votes were cast: 94 by healthcare professionals for the two Adoption Awards and 101 by HWL visitors for the Visitors’ Choice Award. The awards were supported by the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and the “Let’s Make It Happen” (LMIH) initiative.
The fourth edition of Healthcare Week Luxembourg is currently being held at Luxexpo The Box in Luxembourg. The conference brings together stakeholders from healthcare, research, public authorities and industry to address the resilience and antifragility of healthcare systems. HWL is organised by the Fédération des Hôpitaux Luxembourgeois (FHL) in partnership with the event agency Quinze Mai.
The winning solutions:
• Luxembourg HealthTech Adoption Award: Azyro is a Luxembourg-based company which develops a device that generates magnetic fields to reduce the bacterial load in infected wounds, for instance in diabetic foot ulcers. Combined with antiseptics, the magnetic field disrupts the biofilm and enhances the antiseptics’ effect. It is this combination that produces the result.
• Europe HealthTech Adoption Award: Kando is based in Belgium and has developed a platform connecting care, technical and communication systems without requiring facilities to replace their current tools. Accessible via smart-phone, tablet and computer, the platform integrates with the Kando Box to support professionals and beneficiaries in coordinating care and daily activities.
• HWL Visitors’ Choice Award: Brainphonics is a Belgian company that has developed CORGEE, a hearing test for children who may not be able to provide reliable behavioural responses during conventional assessments. CORGEE uses brain activity to measure how well a child can hear and understand speech. The test is already being used in clinical practice.
“The HWL Awards are a unique opportunity to honour innovation in healthtech and highlight promising solutions in Luxembourg’s and the European healthcare sector,” said Sylvain Vitali, Deputy Director of the Fédération des Hôpitaux Luxembourgeois (FHL).
“In our sector – like in all others which are strategic for our societal development – we need the brightest brains and smartest talents to leverage the potential of new technologies and entrepreneurial talent. With the help of Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Economy and LMIH, the HWL Awards allow us to support young companies that help drive the change in research, academia, education and medical practice.”
