On Thursday 20 November 2025, the Health Directorate of Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security published its weekly overview on the development of major acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza (flu) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), for the week of Monday 10 to Sunday 16 November 2025 (week 46).

Decrease in COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2 cases

During week 46, the number of positive COVID-19 cases decreased from 74 to 65, representing a 12% drop compared to the previous week. The viral concentration detected in wastewater also declined. The latest available sequencing data reveal that the XFG variant (54.2%) and its subvariant XFG.3 (29.1%) remained predominant.

Slight increase in flu cases, with numbers remaining low

The number of flu cases reported by laboratories rose slightly, from 41 to 50 cases, over one week. Influenza A accounted for 94% of the typed results and influenza B for 6%.

Increase of RSV cases

The number of RSV cases reported by laboratories saw a 55% increase, with 62 confirmed cases compared to 40 the previous week. Since October 2025, 75% of infections have occurred in children under seven, indicating that the virus mainly affects younger age groups.
