On Thursday 18 July 2024, Luxembourg's Ministry of Home Affairs announced that Minister Gloden had overturn the decision of the Hesperange municipal council to hire an individual as a "municipal pact coordinator".

Luxembourg's Minister for Home Affairs took note of complaints made by opposition members regarding the decision of the Hesperange municipal council on Friday 12 July 2024 to recruit a grade A2 municipal employee for the position in question.

After carrying out the legality check provided for by the amended municipal law of 13 December 1988, the minister concluded that the candidate did not meet the requirements in terms of the required diplomas. For this reason, he decided to annul the decision of the Hesperange municipal council.

The ministry stressed that accusations aganist the mayor of Hesperange regarding a conflict of interest were "irrelevant" in this case, given that, in accordance with the provisions of article 20 of the aforementioned municipal law, the mayor had left the room when the issue was raised during a meeting and he did not participate in the discussions or the vote.
