The University of Luxembourg has announced the appointment of Professor Pascal Bouvry as its new dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine, effective 20 October 2023.

The Board of Governors of the University of Luxembourg has appointed Professor Pascal Bouvry as the new dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine. His mandate will run for five years and starts on 20 October 2023. He succeeds Prof Jean-Marc Schlenker, dean of the faculty since October 2018. 

Prof Bouvry earned his undergraduate degree in economics and social sciences and his Master’s degree in computer science from the University of Namur, Belgium. He earned his PhD degree in computer science at the Grenoble Institute of Technology (at the time Institut National Polytechniqe de Grenoble, INPG), France, in 1994. He started his career in industry, gaining experience in technology consultancy and leadership in multiple international enterprises.

He has been a professor in computer science at the University of Luxembourg since 2002, leading the Parallel Computing and Optimisation Group and directing the doctoral programme in computational sciences and the certificate “SmartICT for business innovation.”

Prof Bouvry has led the University’s activities in high performance computing (HPC) the last years and is active in various international scientific committees and technical working groups.

I welcome the opportunity to work closely with him, as he is a rare profile combining academic and industrial expertise and driving the creation of the next generation of experts in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
