On Saturday 11 October 2025, the British Ladies Club of Luxembourg (BLC) organised a Gala Night at the Parc Hotel Alvisse in Luxembourg-Dommeldange.
Over 50 members and partners were decked out in dazzling formal attire to attend the event which started with a Welcome Aperitiv, during which local resident Jess Bauldry performed the first of the evening's entertainment by way of a 20-minute stand-up comedy set, described as an "amuse buche of British humour" in which she covered leaning Luxembourgish, cyclists and roads in Belgium...
With everyone by now seated at round tables, festooned with silver and blue decorations and balloons, BLC Chair, Amy Grech, welcomed everyone and introduced the club as a group of English-speaking women who have made Luxembourg their home, united by a common language. She talked about the two charities supported by the evening's raffle, explaining that they reflect the club's goals in supporting women and families. She also welcomed the men in the audience and thanked them for their support.
The British Ambassador to Luxembourg, Joanne Olivier, then addressed the event and referenced the long history of the BLC. She referenced last weekend's "Trounwiessel" and the words of Grand Duke Guillaume in his first public speech during the Saturday evening festivities. She thanked the BLC board members and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes; she also talked about building bridges between the UK and Luxembourg.
This was followed by a three-course buffet dinner with a cold salads, hot main courses (veal, chicken, seafood in lobster sauce) and desserts, with coffee served at the tables, during which Izak Fadil-Hechadi coordinated the musical entertainment, performing some of his own songs with some covers, both on guitar, before switching to a DJ set.
The tombola raised a total of €650, with proceeds going to Femmes en Détresse and KJT, with prizes including chocolates and crémant.
Talking with Chronicle.lu, BLC Chair Amy Grech acknowledged that she would like the Gala Night to evolve into an annual event, like other events she has initiated for the club.
The evening concluded with dancing on the dance floor.
