The Mierscher Theater has announced that it is putting on a concert dedicated to the works of American composer Charles Ives on Sunday 20 October 2024 at 17:00.

Baritone Franz Schilling and pianist Claude Kraus will perform at this concert, which marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Charles Ives (1874-1954).

Businessman by day, composer by night, Charles Ives was notorious in 1920s New York for his compositions ranging from romantic songs to microtonality to avant-garde symphonies.

The centrepiece of this upcoming concert is the collection of "114 Songs", a self-published anthology from 1922, encompassing Charles Ives‘ entire creative period, from the drinking songs of the popular Yale student to romantic art songs to politically motivated, dissonant protest songs, bearing witness to an extraordinary life.

Tickets for "Charles Ives - 114 Songs" are available on LuxembourgTicket here. The price is €26 for adults and €13 for a reduced youth (under-26) ticket.
