On Thursday 13 November 2025, Ôpen - Maison citoyenne, the first "third place" in Luxembourg's eastern region, launched a crowdfunding campaign to support its development.
According to Ôpen, the campaign aims to finance its development, strengthen accessibility, and continue its mission of fostering social, cultural and intergenerational connections within the region.
Founded in late 2022 by a collective of citizens and inaugurated in May 2023, Ôpen has established itself as a vibrant, inclusive and supportive space open to all.
In two and a half years, Ôpen has:
• welcomed over 150 members and more than 100 volunteers
• hosted 40 types of workshops, four exhibitions, nine festive events and four alternative markets
• facilitated encounters between residents, families, associations, entrepreneurs and newcomers
Ôpen noted that thanks to its model based on citizen participation and shared governance, it has become a genuine resource hub — a social, cultural, and ecological laboratory supported by the municipality of Junglinster, the Oeuvre de la Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, Boost Lokal, CELL, the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, and several local and national partners.
Campaign details:
• Project coordination (November 2025 - March 2026) - Milestone 1: €13,200
• A professional, trilingual website - Milestone 2: €16,200 (cumulative)
Ôpen highlighted this key tool will make information accessible in three languages, streamline registrations, centralise activities, and support the future Activity Card.
• Launch of the Open Activity Card in January 2026 - Milestone 3: €20,000 (cumulative)
Ôpen detailed this card will offer simplified access to workshops, an online purchasing system, and the distribution of 25 solidarity cards.
Through this campaign, Ôpen said it aims to ensure long-term sustainability, strengthen its professional structure and continue offering activities accessible to all and emphasised: “Every donation counts — even €5 can make a real difference.”
They also emphasised that this campaign is not only a call for donations, but also a call to support a more human and more solidaristic model of society at the heart of the community and said: "Supporting Ôpen means investing in social cohesion, intergenerational and intercultural encounters, civic creativity, and local quality of life. Thanks to your support, we can keep our doors - and our hearts - open to everyone."
