On Friday 10 October 2025, Stëmm vun der Strooss, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation supporting people in need, reported that it recently received a donation of two vans filled with drinks from Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE).
On the initiative of Xavier Thillen, Head of Production and Digital Media Operation at BCE, two vans filled with bottles of excess beverages were donated to the association.
The bottles of Coca Cola, Fanta and water came from surplus drinks originally intended for the three days of the “Trounwiessel” (throne transition). The donation was organised and delivered in coordination with the association’s logistics team.
The drinks will be distributed free of charge in Stëmm vun der Strooss’ two social restaurants, located in Esch-sur-Alzette at 112 Rue du Canal and in Luxembourg-Hollerich at 7 Rue de la Fonderie. These facilities welcome people in precarious situations every day and offer balanced meals as well as a space for reception and support. On average, 372 meals are served daily in Hollerich and 235 in Esch-sur-Alzette.
Stëmm vun der Strooss described BCE as a European leader in media services, system integration and software development across television, radio and telecommunications.
Speaking about the donation, Alexandra Oxacelay, Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, noted: “I hope that such acts of solidarity will soon become increasingly common.”
